Potrero Lane (Shale Slide)
Let me take you down Potrero Lane From a long time ago
I remember sliding down the back of these hills
On a magic cardboard boat!
We were hopin on patches of sunlight
heading down to the Shale Slide.
Gonna fly on our, magic, cardboard ride
Funny seeing my Barefeet Jumping, seeing puffs of clouds ‘tween my Toes (we use to)
Tap three times on that tree for good luck
While swinging, on a rope from the trunk
Stepping on patches of sunlight
Just some kids on a country high
I told you I’d do it, but you said I wouldn’t try…
Whispering secrets and plans were made in a fort by candlelight
Our Parents never knew all That we did
They never worried About our lives
While we were jumping on patches of sunlight
heading down to the Shale Slide. Gonna fly on our, magic,
cardboard ride
Let’s all go down After it rains and the flowers are blooming in spring
And never forget from where we came
On this road, Potrero lane
So, now were, stepping on patches of moonlight
creeping down to the shale slide
we’re never , never too old to try!
We Lived on Potrero Lane
